so excited... my own matte art print!

i am so very excited... my Matte Stephens print arrived on Friday. This one is titled Waiting Again. I am such a fan of his work, I had great trouble trying to pick just one! Love the quirkiness and the colours, its so cool when art can make you feel great. Love it.

(Did I mention I am now buying myself a piece of art for my birthday each year - and this is the first. such a good idea!)

a christmas stocking... or two

so this year, even though I still have not put up a tree (I am saying that it is because Archie being not quite 18 months, and would destroy!), I have decorated the house in other ways. One is a lovely Eric Carle Advent calendar (gift from my loveliest if friends Michelle) and two - these stockings for my 2 boys. Now I would love to say that I made them, but alas I do not have that sewing skill that so many of my friends have, so I passed on this task to my adorable Mum, who produced these!
The fabric.... loving the fabric:
a. because it is red,
b. because it has typography on it and
c. beacuse it is created by the lovely Susan from spin spin handmade.  such a clever cookie! You can buy this from her etsy shop along with loads of other goodies.

merry merry and all that. xx

ps. the spotty fabric is from random fabric shop.

new... baby birth notice prints

New Baby Birth Prints are finally in the etsy shop yay. slight shift in my colour palette, but am liking it. Nick and I have been thinking colour a lot lately. It's such an important part of what we do. Printspace is getting a colour face lift, and these are the beginning, yes there is a purple in the palette, well a very grey purple, but purple none the less. Hopefully by next Feb we'll be all sorted. Hopefully. xx

Wanted: Slimline Lounge, Angelucci 20th Century

For those of you who don't know, I am obsessed with sofas, chairs, stools.... especially the mid 20th century variety. So here is one of my favs and all going well, one I will get for my house (once our little renovation is complete - it's still in the design phase but hey, girl's gotta be organised!) It's from a fabulous local design store called Angelucci 20th Century, and it is heaven in a furniture store. Not only do they make this gorgeous sofas based on George Nelsons' 1952 design, they also have a delicious selection of vintage goodies.

new prints... jungle animals.

these little guys are my lastest creations and were seen today at the sisters market in brunswick. i have added black as a feature colour, something which is new to me in my illustrations. i have used it in the past but not with such enthusiasm! i am enjoying embracing the black, and may even do some more as there are a couple more animals up my sleeve. these will be added to the shops soon. not now, it's bed time as day light savings starts tonight in Melbourne and the little ones have no idea which will make the next few days interesting.

... and thank you to everyone who came to say hello at the market today, its always so great to meet our online customers and wholesalers in person. we chat with most people via email, its such a bonus these days to actually meet them! and to all the long lost friends that we haven't seen in years that also pop in (sometimes on purpose, usually by accident!) that's so lovely too. markets are such a fun. love it. xx

sneak peak .... stationery coming soon

here are some snippets of some illustrations I've been working on. And now I am in the midst of transforming them into stationery! Birthday cards, note cards, letterhead, invitations, calendars, etc etc. Keep an eye out on Pinecone and Lola store for the latest in 'print me' pdf stationery, and also some pre printed stuff too. I will hopefully have them in the shop over the next few weeks. Happy weekend. xxx

inspired... miroslav sasek

As you have probably guessed, I am a lover of vintage childrens books, especially those created during the mid 2oth century. Here is my latest obsession... Miroslav Sasek. I have admired these books for ages and finally bought one (The is New York) for my Archer's 1st birthday in July. I found this decision of which fabulous book in the series to choose quite easy. This is because a. New York would have to be my favourite city away from home (and am devastated to think I was last there 10 years ago... goodness...), b. I want to buy all of them anyway and c. everyone loves a fireman!! ;) Nick and I hope this obsession will spark a love of travel and different cultures in our boys.

Oh, and how cool is it that there's one on Australia.... I mean it was produced and thousand years ago...... I think I will order it next. xxx

I know a lot of things, by Ann and Paul Rand

We all know how much I admire Paul Rand, and Nick has just posted a video interview with him, so I thought I would continue the admiration with some pics of his sweet childrens' book (created along side his wife Ann). Bought this several months ago from the lovely ladies at we heart books. It's been sitting on my shelf as when I showed my little one, he got all excited and now there is a small rip on one of the pages. I was devastated at the time (over it now). So now there it sits on my shelf next to my other children's books that I am keeping safe, the books I purchase for my boys... that are secretly for me (they can have them when they are older and appreciate great design & illustration). Until then, on my shelf they sit. One with a rip.

the pinback badge...

I have been selling these little badges at markets for a few months now, and they are selling in a couple of stores, but I have just realised that they aren't for sale online yet. I have been meaning to put them into the etsy store.... its been on my list of things to do for about 3 weeks now. At least I can tick off 'take photo of badge'. But I think I'll save the actual etsy listing for another day. Not sure why, sometimes I just need to build up to stuff. Small stuff, big stuff, doesn't matter.

Our first stockist in Perth!

The lovely Mel from Stork's Corner in Perth has sent over some photos of the new store which opened on the 1st of July. It is looking just gorgeous, and we are so excited to have our product in WA, and amongst such goodies!! There is a play area upstairs which includes story time and activities, so the kids have a special place to play while you shop. Clever...

So if you live anywhere near Myaree and you'd like to take a peek at some of our prints and all the other treasures, please visit: Stork's Corner, Unit 11, 47 McCoy St Myaree WA 6154

I think a trip to Perth is in order, and we have family there so why not?
