These are examples we have come up, but really the sky is the limit!

Bison Home
While spending a lovely sunny day in Melbourne roaming around the wonderful streets, alley ways and stores, my friend introduced me to a stunning range of ceramics by Bison. Why had I never seen this before? Made from durable stoneware by hand by Brian Tunks and his brilliant team, this range of products made me so happy. The shapes, the colours were so inspiring. Colour is such an emotive thing, and finding a whole shop full of beautiful colours was so exciting! Look.....
(all photos from Bison web site).
And then as we were leaving, I read a fabulous quote on their window by the amazing Henry Thoreau and I was inspired to create a print....

New Limited Edition Art Prints
We are huge fans of vintage posters and have always wanted to produce some art work that is graphic and bold and celebrates an event or a celebration. So here we have our take on this year being the 2011 International Year of Forests. What a wonderful topic. When this idea was first suggested, I was thrilled to find out the theme for this year. Forests & trees are such an iconic and well loved image, and for me it meant using my favourite of all colours - green. Nick has used a warmer set of colours which I also love. So mix them in with our contrasting shapes and we have two very different prints that compliment each other nicely I think.
These prints are going to live in our new Limited Edition range - which means there are only 25 of each available.

Not your regular set of three.
One of the cool things that happens, is customers putting together a set of prints that we would never have thought to put together ourselves. We sometimes design them as sets, and sometimes as stand alone pieces, but they are always created to belong together as a whole range. So its so fun to see what wonderful mixes and matches come out of a customer standing at our stall, pouring over the prints and picking an unlikely set of three. Sometimes it's the colours that tie them together, sometimes the theme and sometimes nothing at all!
So the next time you are having trouble choosing a set of something, they don't need to match completely, try a bit of a clash and it might just work!

many shades of pink...
Now, I am not usually a fan of this colour, but lately I have found myself being drawn to the softer shade of pink. PINK. I can't even believe I said it. I really have never been a fan. Ever. But now here I am looking at pink shoes. Really? I know pink comes in many shades, and yes there are many of those shades that I dislike with a passion. You know that scary bright pink that some kids brands think is the only colour a little girl will were. But I have come to see that you can never say never!!!

a new print?

Been thinking about this for a while and have had requests for a certain type of print, so maybe it's time.
Stay tuned.

loving my... emily green necklace
I purchased this little number a few weeks ago, and have to say I love it! I bought it, so must of liked it, but I can't stop wearing it. And the colours are gorgeous. They make me happy. And what is so cute, is that both the boys love looking at it and playing with it when I wear it.
It was so hard choosing just one, I may need to pop another on my birthday wish list....
Emily Green is a Melbourne based designer who makes artworks, brooches and necklaces. I am sure you have seen her work around town, and now she is selling her wares in the equally stunning Obus stores. Shopping heaven. xx

Colour Heaven... The Pantone Hotel
Colour. It's such a huge part of every designers day (and life). And Pantone is king of colour. I stumbled across this little gem on FB the other day and thought, hmmm, it deserves further investigation. You will find this stunningly designed hotel by Michel Penneman and Oliver Hannaert, in Brussels. With a canvas on white, the colours POP. Yes there is a Pantone Hotel. Brilliant, brilliant idea. Who would ever think to do this, and yet now that you see it, well why wouldn't you? Inspired, oh I think so.

What's with all the babies
I don't know what it is, but there are an awful lot of babies being born at the moment. Not only from friends and family, but I have been receiving a lot of baby birth print orders too! Heaps. Lots. Which is lovely, as I love a newborn. And its so much fun seeing all the gorgeous names people are calling their kids. (these ones are made up babies, with made up names!) Which one would you choose?
